How will I know if a Statement of Defence was filed?

British Columbia Divorce > Sole Divorce in British Columbia
If the Statement of Defence was in the file when stage 2 was filed, the court would have indicated this immediately and not accepted the documents for filing.

However, a Statement of Defence can be filed after the time limit has expired right up until the divorce is granted. In this situation the Defendant takes the chance that the Statement of Defence will be effective in stopping the divorce. If it was noted that a Statement of Defence was filed before the divorce order was granted, the divorce would be rejected and the court would notify you or your agent of it.
