How long does the divorce process take?

British Columbia Divorce > Frequently Asked Questions
The length of the entire divorce process will vary depending upon your particular situation and the processing time of the British Columbia Supreme Court.  Once stage 2 (the application for divorce) is filed your divorce will move through the court system subject to the processing time of the court.

A typical time for the court to grant the divorce order would be 16 weeks. The court processing time can be reduced to 8 weeks or less with our Expedited Filing Service. Once your divorce is granted it will be final 31 days later if no appeal is filed. When your divorce is final you may get married again.
