The Federal Child Support Guidelines

British Columbia Divorce > Children and Divorce in British Columbia
The Federal Child Support Guidelines are regulations under the Divorce Act that apply when setting child support amounts for children of the marriage. The guidelines consist of a set of rules and tables and are the law in Canada. Under the Federal Child Support Guidelines the basic amount of child support is determined by considering:
  • the number of children;
  • the province or territory where the paying parent lives; and
  • the paying parent's gross annual income.
