How much does it cost to file for divorce in British Columbia?

British Columbia Divorce > Frequently Asked Questions

The British Columbia Supreme Court charges a fee to file each stage of your divorce. The court does not accept payment in advance so each fee must be paid to the court as and when each stage of your divorce is filed.

The court filing fees are:

  • $210.00 for stage 1 - filing the divorce action,
  • $80.00 for stage 2 - applying for divorce order, and
  • $40.00 for stage 3 - per Certificate of Divorce requested (this stage is optional).

If you are filing your divorce forms in court yourself, you may pay court filing fees in cash, debit card (most courts) or by money order or certified cheque payable to the Minister of Finance. The court does not accept credit cards.

With our British Columbia Divorce Filing Service, we will make all the trips to the court, wait in line, and file your divorce forms for you. The court fees can be paid by credit card on our web site or you can provide a money order made payable to the Minister of Finance.
